About Ops North

The visible problem is rarely the whole problem.

Why Ops North Exists

Ops North was founded by Sharnelle Guthrie after years of working inside organizations where the visible problem was rarely the whole problem.

Across quality, operations, healthcare, technology, trust and safety, fraud risk, and AI-enabled environments, her work has repeatedly required understanding how people, processes, information, decisions, and systems combine to produce an outcome.

Ops North grew from that way of seeing organizations: start with how the work actually happens, then determine what the system needs.

What We Believe

  • Operations is not a function. It is how the organization produces its outcomes.
  • The most important work in an organization sometimes happens through channels no one officially designed.
  • Clarity about how work actually happens is the first step toward any meaningful change.
  • Good operations should create calm, not activity.
  • AI should support judgment, not replace the understanding that makes judgment possible.
  • Every organization has a way of producing its outcomes. The question is whether that way can carry what comes next.

Understanding how organizations actually work, before deciding what to change.

Ops North is growing into more than a consulting practice. Over time, it will become a source of field notes, observations, and practical guidance for organizations preparing for what comes next. Not through frameworks or hype, but through careful investigation of how work actually happens and what the system needs.
